Flash is Killing Your Website

I’m amazed how tech savvy the construction industry is in the field, yet so many construction companies still utilize Adobe Flash® on their websites. What is Flash? It is a program that creates animations and special effects on websites. Sounds cool, but it has numerous problems.

  1. Flash is NOT searchable – Today’s business world is online. If you need something, you search for it. Your prospective clients are searching the web, and they will not find you if you have a Flash website. You might not think you can get business from your website – you can and your competition won’t tell you otherwise.
  2. Flash if DIFFICULT to update – Working in Flash is like working on a feature film. It is big, robust, and the smallest changes are difficult to make. They are nearly impossible without the original files too. If you have a rift with your web developer that is using Flash, you won’t be able to update your website without redoing the entire thing.
  3. You have BETTER options than Flash – Yes, Flash makes cool effects, but we can do nearly all of them using newer techniques (HTML5, CSS3, & Parallax to be specific). These techniques are faster to load, easier to update, and are mobile friendly.

Get with the times and update your website so you can get business online.
