Bigger, Bigger

If you haven’t seen the recent episode of Build It Bigger about the newest build in Las Vegas – City Center, then you’ve got to check this out. City Center is the largest construction project in Las Vegas history. It’s actually four times larger than the now second largest build in the infamous city’s history. This project has over 8,000 workers throughout the 24-hour workday.

Why are we talking about this on a marketing blog? Besides just being cool, the owners of City Center decided to be different and build a city within the properties. To do this right, they actually listened to their sales & marketing team and decided to build the hotel, condos, casino, and shopping mall all at the same time. They decided not to phase in the buildings because no one would want to live or stay at the complex while it was under construction. If completed in phases, the project would be completed in about 10 years.

The other big thing about this project besides its overall size, is that it was started in the beginning of the recession. As you know, the real estate and the entertainment industries took the biggest hit so the owners are gambling on building such a mega complex in the midst of the recession. A big win for the owners is without the recession construction costs would be higher and they probably wouldn’t have the amount of workers needed to make this project. I doubt there is much construction going on in Las Vegas outside of City Center.

The main reason why I’m writing about City Center is IT’S DIFFERENT! The City Center has two sloping buildings, a shopping mall with an uneven roof, and top notch accommodations in the condos and hotel rooms. The property will attract people just by standing out and as the rest of The Strip is themed in pirate ships, pyramids, and carnivals, City Center is timeless with no theme and their unique architecture.

This is another example of standing out from the crowd, charging top dollar and going big.
